Airports Hit By Holiday Meltdowns

If you are concerned about the airport delays many travellers have faced this past month, then make sure you get the best coach hire Bucks has to avoid the worst of the delays.

The BBC found that one in five flights had been delayed by over 30 minutes in the past year, and that didn’t include flights that had been cancelled.

Using the data from the Civil Aviation Authority from 25 airports it found Gatwick was the worst affected with one third of flights being delayed.

A spokesman for Gatwick said that it was working to improve the situation in the future, and blamed strike action for many of the problems seen this summer:

“Repeated strike action on the continent over recent years and heavily congested airspace above parts of Europe and London, have led to a significant increase in the number of delays caused by wider air traffic control issues outside Gatwick’s control,” he added.

The summer months were the worst time to fly with most of the delays taking place in June and the summer months.

You can skip the airport queues by holidaying in the UK, or by taking a coach to Europe. Three quarters of the flights that were in the top 40 most delayed routes were to Europe, which can easily be reached by coach travel. Many of the delays that were being experienced at Calais a year or two ago are now greatly reduced, so consider coach travel for your last minute summer holiday this year.
